PASSIVE
VOICE OF MODALS
Rule 1. जब Active voice के वाक्य में can, could, may, might, would, should, must, ought to, used to, need, dare का प्रयोग रहता है तो Passive voice में इनके पश्चात be लगाकर Main verb का IIIrd form लिखा जाता है –
Syntax :- Passive subject + Modal + be + Main verbIII
+ by + Passive object.
- A.V. I can help him.
- P.V. He can be helped by me.
- A.V. He might pass the test.
- P.V. The test might be passed by him.
- A.V. We ought to obey our parents.
- P.V. Our parents ought to be obeyed by us.
- A.V. She used to drink milk daily.
- P.V. Milk used to be drink daily by her.
- A.V. I cannot help him.
- P.V. He cannot be helped by me.
- A.V. We could not cross the river.
- P.V. The river could not be crossed by us.
- A.V. Can I help him?
- P.V. Can he be helped by me?
- A.V. Would you return my loan?
- P.V. Would my loan be returned by you?
Rule 2. जब Active voice के वाक्य में can, could, may, might, would, should, must, ought to, used to, need, dare के बाद Have तथा Main verb का IIIrd form हो तो Passive voice में इनके पश्चात have been लगाकर ही Main verb का IIIrd form लिखा जाता है –
Syntax :- Passive subject + Modal + have been + Main
verbIII + by + Passive object.
- A.V. We must have followed our brothers.
- P.V. Our brothers must have been followed.
- A.V. He must have done that work.
- P.V. That work must have been done by him.
- A.V. He must have done his work.
- P.V. His work must have been done by him.
PASSIVE
VOICE OF INFINITIVES
Rule 1. जब Active voice के वाक्य में (Primary Auxiliaries) is, am, are, was, were, has, have, had के बाद Infinitive (to) का प्रयोग हो तो Passive voice में इनके तुरंत बाद be लगाकर Main verb का IIIrd form लिखा जाता है –
Syntax :- Passive subject + Primary Auxiliary + to + be
+ Main verbIII + by + Passive object.
- A.V. We are to do this job.
- P.V. This job is to be done by us.
- A.V. I am to help him.
- P.V. He is to be helped by me.
- A.V. I am to do it.
- P.V. It is to be done by me.
- A.V. You have to choose a bride.
- P.V. A bride has to be chosen by you.
- A.V. I have to do it.
- P.V. It has to be done by me.
- A.V. We have to choose an umbrella.
- P.V. An umbrella has to be chosen by us.
Rule 2. यदि वाक्य There से प्रारंभ हो तो Passive voice बनाते समय साधारण Present infinitive को Past infinitive में बदल देते है, वाक्य में Passive बनाने के नियम का प्रयोग नहीं होता है –
Syntax :- There + Verb + Noun + to
+ be + Main verbIII.
- A.V. There is no time to waste.
- P.V. There is no time to be wasted.
- A.V. There are two books to write.
- P.V. There are two books to be written.
- A.V. There is no work to do.
- P.V. There is no work to be done.
- A.V. There is no food to waste.
- P.V. There is no food to be wasted.
Rule 3. यदि वाक्य It से प्रारंभ हो तो Passive voice बनाते समय निम्न नियमो का प्रयोग करते है, वाक्य में Passive बनाने के नियम का प्रयोग नहीं होता है –
Syntax :- It + verb + Noun + for + Object + to be +
Main verbIII.
- A.V. It is time to sing a song.
- P.V. It is time for a song to be sung.
- A.V. It is time to start the meeting.
- P.V. It is time for meeting to be started.
- A.V. It is time to close the office.
- P.V. It is time for the office to be closed.
- A.V. It is time to give the final warning.
- P.V. It is time for the final warning to be given.
PASSIVE
VOICE OF IMPERATIVE SENTENCES
जब वाक्य से suggestion, request, advice, order आदि का भाव प्रकट हो तो इनको निम्नलिखित नियमो के अनुसार Passive voice में बदला जाता है –
Rule 1. जब वाक्य से विनती (Request) का भाव प्रकट हो, तथा वाक्य Please या Kindly से शुरू होता है तो Passive बनाते समय Please या Requested के स्थान पर You are requested to को लिख देते है
फिर अन्य शब्दों को ज्यो का त्यों लिख देते है –
Syntax :- You are requested to + Main verbI
+ Object + Other words.
- A.V. Please write a letter to me.
- P.V. You are requested to write a letter to me.
- A.V. Kindly give me your book.
- P.V. You are requested to give me your book.
Rule 2. जब वाक्य से आज्ञा (Order) का भाव प्रकट तो Passive बनाते समय Let या You are ordered to का प्रयोग किया जाता है –
Syntax :- Let + Subject + be + Main verbIII
+ Other words.
Syntax :- You are ordered + to + Main verbI + Object.
- A.V. Shut the door.
- P.V. Let the door be shut.
- A.V. Open the window.
- P.V. Let the window be opened.
- A.V. Get out of this room.
- P.V. You are ordered to get out of this room.
- A.V. Close the door at once.
- P.V. You are ordered to close the door at once.
Rule 3. जब वाक्य से सुझाव (Suggestion) या सलाह (Advice) का भाव प्रकट हो तो Passive बनाते समय Should be या You are advised/ordered/forbidden to का प्रयोग निम्न नियम के अनुसार किया जाता है –
Syntax :- Subject of object +
Should + be + Main verbIII + Other words.
- A.V. Love the poor.
- P.V. The poor should be loved.
- A.V. Help your friends.
- P.V. Your friends should be helped.
- A.V. Never tell a lie.
- P.V. A lie should never be told.
- P.V. Let a lie never be told.
Syntax :- You are ordered/advised/forbidden to + Main
verbI + Other words.
- A.V. Work hard.
- P.V. You are advised to work hard.
- A.V. Never tell a lie.
- P.V. You are forbidden to tell a lie.
- A.V. Sit down.
- P.V. You are ordered to sit down.
Other Rule :-
- A.V. Always respect your teacher.
- P.V. Let your teacher always be respected.
- P.V. Your teacher should be respected.
Rule 4. जब वाक्य Let से प्रारंभ हो-
(I) जब Let के साथ केवल एक Object हो –
Syntax :- Let + Object + be + Main
verbIII + Other words.
- A.V. Let me go home.
- P.V. Let me be gone home.
(II) जब Let के साथ
दो Object हो –
Syntax :- Let + Object(II) + be + Main verbIII
+ by Object(I) + Other words.
- A.V. Let me help the poor today.
- P.V. Let the poor be helped by me today.
- A.V. Let me do this work.
- P.V. Let this work be done by me.
- A.V. Let her sing a song.
- P.V. Let a song be sung by her.
(III) जब Let के बाद us लगा हो –
Syntax :- It is suggested/proposed
that we should + Main verbI + Object + Other words.
- A.V. Let us read a book.
- P.V. It is suggested/proposed that we should read a book.
- P.V. A book should be read.
- A.V. Let us sing a song.
- P.V. It is suggested that we should sing a song.
- P.V. A song should be sung.
- A.V. Let us work hard.
- P.V. It is suggested that we should work hard.
